This simplified process shows you how to create a realistic AI avatar that looks like you and turn it into a talking video.
You do not need technical experience. You need a clear photo of yourself, a short script, and a willingness to test. This follows the same practical, step-by-step approach as the original guide while reducing the process to two tools.
Step 1. Create Your Avatar Image
The quickest and easiest way to do this is with ChatGPT.
Upload a clear, front-facing photo of yourself to ChatGPT. Neutral lighting works best. Avoid sunglasses, hats, or extreme angles.
Then copy/paste this prompt:
“Using the photo I uploaded as a reference, create a realistic professional avatar image of me for academic video content. Preserve my facial features and overall appearance. I want the avatar to look professional, approachable, and natural. Use natural lighting and realistic skin texture. The final image should look like a professional headshot photograph, not an illustration.”
ChatGPT will use your photo as a reference to generate your avatar image.
Refining Your Avatar
The first result may not be perfect. That is normal.
You can ask ChatGPT to make adjustments such as:
More or less smile
Different clothing
No glasses or glasses
Different background
Slightly more formal or more relaxed
Continue making small adjustments until you find an image that feels like a strong digital representation of you.
Treat this like choosing a professional profile photo.
Once you are satisfied, save the image.
This will be your final avatar image.
Step 2. Bring Your Avatar to Life With
Now you will turn your still avatar image into a talking video.
One of the easiest tools to use for this is TopView.ai. Stick with the free trial version while you are testing.
TopView allows you to upload your avatar image, add a script, select a voice, and generate a talking video without advanced animation or editing experience.
Creating Your Talking Avatar
Upload the avatar image you created in ChatGPT to TopView.
Then:
Add your avatar image.
Enter the script you want your avatar to speak.
Select the voice you want to use.
Generate your video.
Let the platform generate the video and review the result.
If something does not look or sound right, make an adjustment and generate another version.
The more you test, the better you will understand which images, scripts, and settings produce the best results.
Once You Are Satisfied
You now have a reusable digital avatar that can present scripts you provide.
You can use it for:
Assignment instructions
Multilingual content
Powerpoint presentations
Short lessons
Course introductions
Announcements
Book summaries
And more…
The goal is not to replace your role as the instructor.
The avatar simply saves you time and gives you another way to deliver material without requiring your live presence.
Hope this helps!
